Designing

Computers have been an irreplaceable working tools for our designers for many years. Our Company has always been working with the computer:

- from the first machine tool with numerical control in 1969
-
to the integrated management of production/accounting in 1978
-
to the communication network among the machine tools in 1986
-
to computer aided design in 1990

Raw materials
Assembly or manufacture are the alternative strategies in our field: Curioni manufactures. In our facility we produce more than 90% of the mechanical components that go into every Curioni machine. The most modern technologies combined with a highly skilled staff, the most sophisticated machine tools and accurate controls is what guarantees our high quality and ensures competitiveness.

Lathe department
Despite their simplicity, the cylinders are the true essence of a rotary machine. That’s why we take special care in every aspect of their production …

Final grinding
When grinding them, for instance: every cylinder used in a Curioni machine is precision ground in our turning department to match the printing plate thickness specified by the customer in relation to the machine repeat length. The cylinders are hard chrome plated, then ground and dynamically balanced.

Numerically controlled automatic machine tools
All the numerically controlled machine tools are networked to a central processor which prepares the production plans and transmits them to all the machines, following their activity in real time.
In the same way the work in progress is controlled by a computerized communication system.

Quality control
All components manufactured by Curioni are individually checked before being stored prior to assembly

Finishing and painting
Curioni’s strong environmental commitment and desire to maintain the highest standard in working conditions has resulted in a state-of-the-art painting department. An 80 meter long line works in a dedicated 1500 sqm building; the stages of washing, painting and drying are automatically carried out along this line. No thinner is utilized. All paints and detergents are water based and environment friendly.

Assembly and testing
Every machine that bears the Curioni nameplate, even the lines that measure up to 35 meters in length, is completely assembled and tested in our facility. This results in quicker installation and final test at your facility with very reasonable assembly expense.

Shipment
Every safeguard is taken to assure your machine is protected in its travel to your facility.
For seafreight shipments, the machines are vacuum packed inside “barrier bags”, before being put into wooden protective cases.

Service
The technical service and support to our customers is extremely important to us. As we export all over the world, we are committed to provide timely and efficient service through our highly qualified team of technicians, together with first-class technical documentation. Curioni’s technical support goes from the machine layout to the final installation plans, from installation to start-up and training, from troubleshooting to maintenance and spare parts supply. Today, Curioni uses the most up to date technology for data transmission, which allows us to give on-line modem service to customers who own computerized Curioni machines.

The implementation of  ISO 9001 Qualification naturally suits the tradition of Curioni in supplying its customers with high quality and dependable service. The previous design and production procedures had always been controlled by strict internal standards.  The ISO Qualification required significant work in coordination, refining and optimization of documentation.
The true heart of the  ISO 9001 Qualification is the management of machine design procedure. In this area, the activity was particularly thorough and proved to be a great professional achievement for the dedicated team who embraced the project. We feel it is important to emphasize the design aspect since very few manufacturers in our field qualify for ISO 9001. In two successive audits, the inspectors of the Dot Norse Verities certification bureau did not record any non-compliant procedure, thus confirming the excellence of the system and the wide spread involvement of the company staff.
